Meleni Aldridge has been immersed in the field of natural and integrative medicine for over 27 years. She is a practicing clinical psychoneuroimmunologist, functional medicine practitioner and certified Metabolic Balance coach. In her role as executive coordinator of the Alliance for Natural Health International (ANH), Meleni has spent the last 10 years in regular consultation with the principal regulatory bodies shaping the food and healthcare laws of the world today.
Meleni joined the ANH in 2005 and, since then, has been instrumental in furthering the ANH’s communications with the global CAM community and industry stakeholders and has been actively involved in consultations with the European Commission, the European Food Safety Authority, the US Food and Drug Administration, the UK Food Standards Agency, as well as the Food and Drug Administration and World Health Organization of the United Nations. She regularly leads meetings with Members of Parliament (both of Great Britain and the European Union) and has been invited to numerous world conferences.
In December 2005 Meleni was instrumental in setting up the ANH Consultancy Ltd, the consultancy arm associated with the ANH, which deploys specialist consultants in the fields of medicine, science, regulatory affairs, marketing, branding and design, and other relevant fields, to help support leading edge and innovative companies in the natural health field worldwide. She takes a leading role in her capacity as specialist nutritionist, client liaison, project director and consultant. Meleni writes and contributes to articles, columns and press releases in the field of sustainable healthcare and regulatory threats to it and is on the board of ANH-USA, ANH’s regional office based in Atlanta, GA.
A natural and integrative health practitioner for many years, Meleni was approached by St Mary’s University in 1995 and asked to devise and lecture on a new holistic health module for their specialist sport rehabilitation honours degree. She lectured for 11 years, whilst furthering her own studies in the field, leaving her post as senior lecturer to campaign, lobby and consult alongside Dr Robert Verkerk in ANH-Intl and ANH Consultancy.
Having held executive positions in various SMEs and not-for-profit organisations within the natural health sector, Meleni combines broad knowledge of the natural healthcare industry with a deep understanding of the regulatory framework. She is committed to seeing the necessary shapeshifting in the corporate, scientific and regulatory environment required to facilitate the development of natural and sustainable healthcare. But people — their health and their happiness — as well as their ability to act as empowered and responsible citizens, remains central in achieving this goal.
